Pros

The opportunity to connect and work with young writers is wonderful. You also gain and practice many skills in nonprofit programming development and stretch your creative muscles.

Cons

The Americorps partnership hinders on the benefits of this role. Fellows only receive a small stipend and a handful of discount-esque benefits during their year of service. It's essentially a lot of full-time work for so little pay.

Very well run nonprofit from a strategy and operations stand point. You will learn a lot no matter what team you are on.

Cons

Org. relies heavily on Americorps funding but expects Corps members to take as much responsibility as entry level or even early management employees with no salary or benefits. There is also only minimal to moderate opportunity for internal upward movement in the organization and theres a ton of competition for those roles, even though salaried roles at the org also pay poorly.
