Event Marketing/Coordinator Interview

Pros

You could determine your pay? Its sorta like a commission based pay, but the job description makes it imply you are an actual paid employee either hourly or salary but its very confusing.

Cons

This job description is a trick to get applicants. They make it sound like you will be a part of a small-medium size team for multiple projects/events, like regular a employee. What they really want is another body to fill in as a 'manager or coordinator' at a pop up AT&T kiosk in a place like Costco. The job is essentially a try out to see if you have what it takes to 'move up' in 6 months to a manager (of what I'm not sure, but similar work) and if you don't then they will place you in a random position, probably selling AT&T products. I was called about a zoom interview on Monday and told it is scheduled for the next day. I requested that I have a few more options, since the next day I had a busy schedule at my current job, but they pushed for it, even suggested I interview via zoom on my phone during my lunch break. In order to not be too pushy I did this. To my surprise it was a group interview, and lasted about 15 min. I was asked in for a second interview but I declined.

Cons

They lie about everything say you’re going to get paid for training and your commission. It’s a joke worst company I’ve ever seen. Waste of you’re time the people who work there will steal your commission

Pros

Exciting presentation, marketing and direct sales information and training, opportunities for growth within the company

Cons

As it turns out, the “events based marketing firm with a focus in pop-up shop campaigns” is actually selling AT&T phone lines at Walmart, Costco, or Sam’s Club. The learning that you do, at least at the beginning is entirely how to sell AT&T phone lines (including the exact phone line numbers and prices), though you can potentially use the strategies for other sales. I did not choose to go forward with the company because of this, so perhaps the people that stick with 99 Exposure really love their positions. However, I feel that I was lied to and they tried to con me into working for a business structure that subtly resembles a pyramid scheme. The only difference I can clearly see is there is a “guaranteed” base pay - but this was something they didn’t explain well despite my questions. 440/week based on 40+ hours or no matter what? Also, 860/week as campaign manager is guaranteed or expected based on normal commission rates? This is a career for someone with no experience or degree, but I don’t believe this is a job for a professional who wants a high return on their personal investment in their education and time.
