Pros

Pay is always on time. Social office environment. Lunch hour. Co-workers are great. Location is near the T. The mission is important and helps a lot of people.

Cons

The leadership is very out of touch with the employees. The executive director is a manipulative tyrant, and the office is very stringent. Your supervisor makes all the difference. Poor healthcare coverage. Stingy benefits unless you've worked there forever.

Pros

Zero. None. Absolutely nothing. Stay far away.

Cons

The most unprofessional workplace ever. Young graduates, do not waste your time here. This place will actually hurt your professional career. Everyone in Boston’s nonprofit community will judge your resume for having AACA experience. It’s not something to be proud of. At AACA I never felt that individual differences were nurtured - anyone could do my job or anyone else's job because my strengths were rarely played upon (though I was hired for them). Information between and within teams was consistently suppressed or spun (God forbid we work as a cohesive team). The company did not add value to my professional life but drained a lot from it. AACA never stood for anything other than profit and the work was not rewarding. It is a joke of an organization with manipulative management. • THE PAY IS NOT A LIVING WAGE, especially for the Boston metro area. • Inability to match staff's interests, education and abilities with job responsibilities. • Inadequacy of vision and inflexibility with diversity of future growth. • Distrust and secrecy between and even within departments run rampant. • Vague promises of increased responsibilities, but dismal return for one's efforts.

Pros

Some of the employees are nice. Believe in their mission and are trying to help people.

Cons

Leadership is a nightmare. There is no direction. They are shady and bend the rules when it comes to grants. Plus, the building is way to small for the whole staff and there is no security.
