Pros

The hospital has a lot of potential to be a great, hometown hospital.

Cons

There are too many friends promoted from within, though they lack any kind of management skills. DON needs to step down and they need to hire someone with experience to get the place back in shape. Managers need to be held accountable for what is happening in the building, starting with the DON.

Pros

The pay is good. It's 8 hour shifts. Insurance is great. You did receive a discount if you had to be seen in the ER. If you worked holidays you got double time and a half. The new CEO (Nicole- glass door still has John Lewis listed on here. I don't recommend him but Nicole is great) is changing things for the better.

Cons

Schedule could be wonky. You could get off on Sunday at 7 am and be scheduled for 5 am Monday morning. The bounce back was rough. If someone calls off for the midnight shift and you know admissions but worked 3-11, you may have to stay til 7 am. There can be drama too.

Pros

Work place geographical location needed for personal reasons.

Cons

In this Hospital, the management promotes and supports a disturbing "management verse employee culture". Managers are promoted from within using a low hurdle; and not given any professional training/guidance in dealing with employees other than a parroting assimilation into this culture. Therefore, due to a lack of skills, or higher purpose they operate only through their personality, ego and personal relationships. In addition, any questioning/concern is assessed as an affront; met with reactive hostility and teaming up against the person. Extremely high school like and Toxic workplace. Most are local and have spent their whole career working only at this hospital so have no other frame of reference than operating with a lack of accountability, defensiveness and protected incompetence. There is a minority of competent employees not in management, but most spend much of their energy on socializing, talking about their personal lives and their social position rather than being patient focused. I have worked many places couldn't imagine a more dysfunctional one.
