Pros

Monthly lunches and free tix (if you know who to ask)

Cons

If you plan to have a career with this company or hope to get promoted within, don’t bother. Most hiring managers already have people in mind when you see a job posted and it’s just up for protocol. So turnover is very high. The company doesn’t encourage opportunity and growth. Even though the company has many female employees, it’s still an all boys club. There is no work/life balance which leads many to work to the point that they are mentally and physically drained. Working for this industry should be fun, exciting and encouraging, AEG kind of gave me PTSD and not want to work for the industry anymore.

Pros

Concert tickets (if you know who to ask), festival passes (GA only)

Cons

Horrendous management styles are almost universal across the company. Leadership is vindictive and runs teams from a place of fear. Little room for growth, raises, bonuses or respect. HR guidebooks and policies are superfluous, as nothing is adhered to or supported. I would never go back to AEG unless the culture changed drastically or a true corporate framework was implemented. This is hardly a company in any sense of the word, but is rather a fragmented structure with disparate teams, bound by very little vision or guidance to bring them together. Truly a toxic, incompetent environment from top to bottom.

Pros

Discounted ACL tickets and occasional concert

Cons

At Messina Touring Group, there was no leadership. Not only did the executives come and go as they pleased, the managers had no workflow and there were zero training initiatives for new hires. The expectations were entirely too high for being given zero instruction. The communication throughout the office was abysmal. The higher-ups kept everything between them and were threatened by any young, eager mind who was hungry for the music business. There is pettiness and cliques, and if they decide they don't like you they will do anything to belittle, ignore, and eventually push you out of the job. I worked there for almost two years, arriving 45 minutes early every single day with no acknowledgement. God forbid I left at 5:25p instead of 5:30p, I would hear about it from my supervisor the next day even though she left at 3pm and didn't leave me or my manager anything for me to do. I asked for more work or if anyone needed help with anything even outside of my department, almost every day. I was a slave to my desk and have never felt more bitter about a place or time in my life. After a certain amount of time passed, my self-esteem tanked and I lost any confidence I had in my skills and ability to contribute to the company I once held at such a high regard. I was under the impression I would be coached in marketing tours, but instead became the office's Account Payable liaison--did I mention I majored in writing? I learned a lot about myself during my time at MTG, and although I am still working on the PTSD from being there, I couldn't be more thankful for the new job I have now.
