The issue with AgVantis isn't the CEO

Pros

The issue isn't the CEO. It's entitlement. Given my relatively short tenure, what I have noticed are co-workers who've been around forever that can't adjust to change, don't want to adjust to change and blame everything on executive management. It's not that they aren't respected because they are. We value their knowledge but you don't have to get in our face with it. Most haven't worked anywhere else so they have no idea what it's really like to be a part of a poorly run organization. Most feel entitled; entitled to make senior level business decisions, entitled to short term and long term incentive plans, entitled to complain, entitled to a job. There is a thing called "performance". No one is entitled to a job, you have to perform. And oh by the way, most days at 4:59 or sooner the office looks like a ghost town! We have a lot of freedoms that most take for granted. We have a lot of information that comes our way. You have options folks, the company isn't going to stop on a dime because you think without you it won't succeed. So you think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. I suggest you go check it out. You just might be humbled. Thank you Mr. Oles for all you are doing, all you have brought to the organization, for introducing change that has been a long time coming. Keep sharing, I'm on board and despite what you hear most are on board as well.

Cons

No organization is perfect, nor will one ever be. Communications can always improve. It will be nice when our work space has been updated.

Overworked, bullied and poor management

Pros

Farm credit system is an overall good organization to work for good benefits, good customers to work with It used to be a great place to work, lots of things have changed in the past 2 1/2 years.

Cons

Overworked employees - not enough employees for all the work, employees are excepted to work whatever hours it takes to get the work done. Some project deadlines are not realistic, quality of work is low because of bad management decisions. Signing checks that should be written. Members of the management staff - none to little experience managing others, not qualified to manage others, intimidation and bullying is used by some of the managers due to lack of confidence within their own self as well as lack of knowledge of some of the responsibilities that their staff may have to perform to get their jobs done. A lot of the employees have more experience and knowledge then the individual managing them, making it difficult for some relationships between manager and employee, making the manager insecure about their own position and knowledge. Turn over this year within the company is the highest ever I have ever seen it to be. From January 2013 to November 2013 there has been 10 individuals leave but as of December 2013 there will be at least 2 more individuals leaving the company, some were long term employees. Some of the reasons for the turn over is due to managers behavior to employee, high demands at work lack of family time, better opportunities better paying job, Also the fear of the company not existing within the next few years due to mergers by their customer base.

Pros

AgVantis is a small close knit family environment with great benefits and great pay.

Cons

AgVantis used to be great until the new CEO started. He promised "I am not going to make changes unless they are necessary" yet when questioned on the changes, at best, has no good reason. The new CEO is not from the Farm Credit industry which first off questions why he was hired and his management style causes question among the employees. Without first knowing your employees and what they do, why would you "reorg" a department, taking senior level employees from one department were they have been respected and successful at to staff another department that there skills are overqualified? Management in general, including the new CEO, needs to get a better grasp on the direction, focus of the company and what there employees do before making any more rash decisions.
