Pros

The pay is decent here. Working with teens can be fulfilling.

Cons

Employees are unhappy Leadership is condescending High stress No work-life balance In the initial stages of employment, the atmosphere may appear amicable and supportive. However, as one establishes personal boundaries with leadership, a shift towards a mentally taxing and unsupportive environment becomes evident. There is a pervasive pattern of favoritism among upper management, resulting in unfair treatment of staff and a lack of equilibrium between professional and personal life. The prevalent high-stress environment coupled with inadequate recognition fosters an atmosphere of toxicity within the workplace. Additionally, inadequate supervision of children poses concerns for safety and well-being. Therapists predominantly congregate at the office location, prioritizing office-based activities over direct client interaction in residential settings. A sense of unsupportiveness and competitiveness pervades the team dynamics, detracting from collaborative efforts. Upper management's propensity to deflect accountability and attribute blame to employees exacerbates existing challenges. Despite the fulfilling aspect of working directly with teens, the overarching disregard for employee well-being renders the experience detrimental to mental health. In conclusion, this organization falls short in providing a supportive and conducive work environment, making it an unsuitable choice for prospective employees seeking a mentally healthy workplace.

Pros

The other CC’s are supportive.

Cons

I have a long list… - Everyone from The House Manager to CC’s are overworked and underpaid. - Staff support is non existent, everybody is burnt out. The job promotes you to take off for your mental health, but has outrageous policies that don’t support it. -This place is unethical. The house manager and residential supervisor utilize policy for their advantage. Ex. There is only 1 CC that is schedule to work overnight. There is suppose to be 2 people working at all times. If any emergency happens overnight, the 1 CC is responsible for the residents safety. If by any chance there are 2 CC’s working overnight and you are having a family emergency. A CC is only allowed to call out if you find someone to pick up your shift and if you have PTO time. The problem with that is that all the full time employees work everyday so no one is going to pick up extra shifts, part time/PRN staff do not have benefits so if they call out they are automatically subjected to verbal warnings. -if you are applying for full time position, your not guaranteed to get 40hrs/week. If CC’s are making between $19-$23 and you are depending on this job to support your household, sorry ! - HR is non existent. If you are having concerns with employment, and you reach out, they do not respond to you in a timely manner. So if you have a concern, you can’t rely on HR to support you.

Pros

If you’re doing it PRN style you can strategically avoid some of the major issues. Most CCs and supervisors are kind and understand their in the trenches with you. Company tries sometimes to make changes.

Cons

No real safety plans that are effective other then round every 15 minutes, With a weird time limited of five minutes or late for 8 clients. Horrible training, probably the worst I’ve ever seen. You waste your time staring at power point presentation that are not well put together for your first day, and then get trained by another CC for a week, usually not at your main house. Other Trainings are usually also inconvenient for all shifts. If your PRN or overnight, or have another job you don’t have much room to figure out how your going to join a training. There also announced like two weeks before and only one time and date available, can also change time and date a week before. Told to interact with clients but you have no real training to work with people who are Usually in an unstable mental state and so if something where to happen you can’t actually help beyond how a decent human being would respond. No 24/7 physical nurse or doctor on staff for all 6-8 houses, everything is virtual, medication management team only works in office. At times espically overnight unable to get in contact with medical professionals. I’ve had at least three scary ER situations and had to make reasonable decisions for someone’s health and have gotten reprimanded for putting client first because nurse didn’t give approval.. nurse didn’t respond over virtual chat for one hour+. Supervisors are so busy and stressed. CC or client coordinators are expected to be chefs, medical transports, therapist, transportation in general, medical personal, security, janitors, enforcer’s and much more without proper training. Constantly single staff to 8 clients because of constant turn over rate.
