Violates labor laws

Pros

I left a previous 5-star review, but after concluding my last season with AMS, I have come to realize that this company violates some major labor laws. (Please see my review from July 1st, 2015 for the pros).

Cons

Those who run AMS take advantage of underage workers' lack of knowledge and expertise, violating major labor laws. I have done extensive research on such laws, and they 1. Do not pay their employees for what is legally classified as on-call time and 2. Do not pay their employees time-and-a-half for overtime. I would not advise anyone to work for this company if they want an honest, law-abiding employer.

an okay first job

Pros

people are nice, you make friends, you learn how to deal with others, you learn how to manage responsibility, flexible hours, days off

Cons

high yet unclear expectations for almost minimum wage, VERY tiring especially if you work an all day shift (10:40-7), can have odd hours (2:50-9, 8:30-3, 11:40-6, 10:40-7), unprofessional, does not evenly distribute hours between guards, wants you to clean bathrooms but you're a lifeguard not a janitor, does not give you a lunch break (must eat during 10/15 min breaks every hour)
