Pros

Easy to get this job. The interview is nothing and I've never seen a candidate get turned away.

Cons

No off time, no lunches. It's like walking on eggshells. Everyone is saccharine to your face and sneaky behind your back. I wanted to make a liveable wage because I was on the verge of homelessness and was told I wasn't working hard enough. I also got cussed at by a few different contractors, that's how poorly APA treats them. Then, you're expected to call these poor people and treat them poorly again.

What it's like to work at APA

Pros

They have a nice clean office in a nice building.

Cons

They hire you under false pretenses. To advance here is very hard due to the ever changing rules/goals they make on a day to day basis. They have some good employees, but the ones who make the decision to weather you have a job or not, only care about themselves. You are required to work OT often and they only pay HALF time when you do work OT. (About 7 ish dollars an hour) Daily you wonder if this is the day they will fire you because you didn't mean a certain number. It's unfortunate to put that fear on people who work hard for you. The training is poor and they essentially throw you to the wolves. If you have a bad day you are on the chopping block right away. Meanwhile the Daughter of the owner comes and goes for eyelash extension appointments/trainer appointments, or whatever else she needs done, then returns and barks orders and commands. Bottom line, I worked my tail off for them, I was on call for any of my guys at all hours and was almost always the first to check emails to try to gain new people under me, but it all amounted to nothing in the end. My advice, The turn over is constant, I would recommend not even bothering to apply.

APA Services Response

I'm so sorry that you had a less than excellent experience with APA. The daily, weekly and monthly expectations are absolutely set high for any person in a production role within the organization. Individuals that fail to meet their quota are required to work overtime as outlined and fully disclosed in the interview process. This is a standard business practice in any production environment that strives for excellence. Breaks throughout the day, including lunch, are encouraged at APA Services. We want our recruiters to focus and be "in the production zone” when they are at their desks without distractions including playing games on cell phones. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate all feedback and use it to grow and direct our organization culture. Feel free to reach out with any further thoughts or suggestions.

Pros

The other recruiters in the office are quite helpful and friendly. It is located in a respectable area and in a nice office building. The contractors are treated well and taken care of within reason for the market and the pay that is out there.

Cons

For being a successful company they sure don't seem to hold onto employees. Recruiters come and go every other week. Many just "let go" without being guided or coached. It seems like they just give up as soon as someone is in a slump or not performing consistently. The employees are not taken care of and expected to work like complete slaves and live in fear that each day is their last with that company. They do expect you to drop any and plans or life outside of the office if they say come to you at 4 pm on any given day and tell you to stay until you reach whatever goal is set that day by management. You are expected to work as much OT as they direct and you aren't paid time and a half rather HALFTIME. Who in their right mind would want to work for $7 and hour on OT??? Yes you are salary which with the amount of stress and pressure that the recruiters endure there is amazing. I'm surprised that none have completely lost it around there. There is absolutely no consistency with expectations. One day you are told one thing and the next it is a complete 180. As far as room for growth, there isn't much. They claim to have three levels or recruiters but regardless of your experience you are hired on as a level one recruiter and in order to reach level two you have to reach unrealistic goals and you better not slip up. To reach level three status where yo can make the 6 figure income the goal and expectation is astronomical. Good luck to anyone who can reach that unless you are upper management. If you want to live in constant fear and not know what your expectations are already day go a head and apply here.
