Pros

I met some great friends, very few of who still work for the company.

Cons

Sadly, I spent over two and half years at AVE and this company fits every single definition of a toxic work environment. AVE has a history of only hiring young, white women, there is absolutely no diversity and no effort to include any. Gossip spreads like wildfire throughout the organization and the only employees safe from it are the favorites of leadership. One particular manager constantly talks about employees they don’t like in front of large groups of people. This manager is the most unprofessional in the entire company. Because of this behavior apparently there has been an HR hotline created to report harassment from superiors. Throughout my time at AVE there has been constant turnover, and in the past 6 months this company has lost over 10 employees in the Philadelphia region alone. The main reason I left was due to the constant verbal abuse, unprofessionalism and toxicity that is running rampant amongst leadership. I did not feel safe, supported or heard at AVE. The morale of employees in the PA region of the company is at an all time low due to the actions of two very poor leaders. The HR department at AVE should’ve gotten the message about 7 resignations ago but it doesn’t look like they care. I am writing this review so that other prospective employees have the information I didn’t when applying. Just a bit of advice, unless you’re looking for endless burnout, zero opportunity for growth, an insane amount of stress and anxiety, and abuse from your employer, look somewhere else.

Pros

Competitive pay but that’s about it

Cons

Where do I even start… I spent over a year employed by AVE and have had a far from pleasant experience to say the least. There is one issue in particular that myself, and the vast majority of current/previous employees agree on and that is the toxicity running rampant throughout the Philadelphia region due to their leader. Over 10 employees of ALL positions from the KOP and Malvern teams have all resigned over this past year alone due to their “leader”. The worst part is HR is fully aware of the situation as is the top level leadership, both parties continue to protect this “leader” at the expense of everyone else at the company. When any employee gives notice, they are talked about openly in front of other employees by leadership who says things like “They weren’t good for the company anyway” Pretty cocky for a company that can’t retain a single employee if you ask me! Not to mention how blatantly disrespectful let alone unprofessional it is in general to overhear leadership gossiping about it’s own employees whether current or previous. Upper Management seems to be paid to spend their hours gossiping while the team members do all of the work. This does not just apply for employees either, there was a recent incident where AVE hosted a realtor blitz at KOP, the “leader” was so rude to the realtors that one actually told staff he was going to report his interaction with management as he could not believe how he was being treated at this event. AVE tries hard to maintain a great online reputation they even hashtag #RealtorsPartnerwithAVE due to the fact that realtors bring a whopping amount to the business in both our furnished and unfurnished program. You would think of all people, management wouldn’t be treating our “realtor partner’s” this way. Should you find yourself employed here and dealing with similar issues, do yourself a favor and don’t bother bringing it to HR’s attention as they will give you the same bland blanket statement that they will “investigate, and further look into it” while mocking you behind your back. I have personally never left a company on “bad terms” and this company made me feel like a criminal from the moment I expressed my concerns with leadership. The second you bring any issue to HR’s attention is the second the company will do everything in their power to run you out of your job. They have even had multiple instances of not having employees fulfill their 2 week notice which I know can be standard within the sales/service industry, but the kicker is they didn’t have coverage to restaff these positions. Very elementary and childish.. They are in so deep at this point, they are actually doubling down on their stance, in efforts to continue protecting this “leader” at the cost of all others. I can only begin to imagine the expenses that go into their turnover costs due to lack of employee retention. But Korman Brothers if you’re reading this, it’s no coincidence that the Philadelphia suburban region has the highest turnover ratio! There is now an “ anonymous employee hotline” at one of the properties to try and combat the toxic working conditions and behaviors but in my opinion, it’s really just a cover up to protect their own you know what. All the harassment in the work place stems from one individual and everyone knows it, but too many people have left the company on negative terms, and in efforts to defend this employee HR and upper management will not go back on their word and admit they were wrong. I could go on and on but take a look at other reviews on this page before your accept a job with this company, might be a short term gig unless you play into their political nightmare.

Pros

Working with some great people at the property level And a beautiful product. Decent salary

Cons

Let's see how long this review stays up here before the company takes it down because they only want five star ratings in their pretend world. Senior management and Leadership play favorites. Impossible bonus structure. Required to wear black everyday (for real!) And drink the Korman family Koolaid. COO has never worked anywhere else her entire life. Did not pay me my two week notice in retaliation. Weird culture.
