More interested in sycophantic fawning to employers than dealing with patients. Will ask for the employer's opinion in dealing with work related accidents. Instead of dealing solely with the patients. (As they should).
An accident can become reportable in regard to the treatment of the patient. Abermed will do its best to avoid giving treatment that would result in a medical treatment case. (Reportable under HSE guidelines).
Instead the topside GPs will try and give the bare minimum of treatments available so as to massage the company's safety statistics.
Shamelessly money orientated. Another example is when it comes to offshore medicals. They are well known to pass or fail someone to be medically fit after consulting their employer's first.
Have talked to other offshore medics who are equally disgusted with the culture of Abermed's medical reporting system.
Having the support of a big company, job security, paid training, all courses are paid for and at their own, well respected venue.
Cons
Senior management pretty much do not exist. Low level management are excellent and I sympathise with them. As there is no promotion as an offshore medic I feel there should be a salary rise in the near future, but I do not foresee one coming.
