      Pros

      Aberystwyth is a beautiful place to live and this is one of the largest employers in the town. They pay well but that's because they have difficulty recruiting and retaining 'good' academic staff.

      Cons

      Very aggressive style of management. Not a collegiate atmosphere at all. There are too many administrative staff, many of whom are quite lazy (at least the ones I encountered) and take a minimalist approach to helping and supporting academics and students.

      Pros

      Located in a lovely town, well isolated and locals are friendly (most of the time),

      Cons

      Bureaucracy, middle management, unfair completion, and inappropriate promotions within the departments, over supply of undergraduates and postgraduates with low qualities. Low entry requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate for the money, so called lecturers are not responsible in getting the right candidates, no intention/unable to keep the most talented staff. The list goes on.

      Terrible HR, admin, and management

      Pros

      Some great colleagues and flexi-time if you have a good supervisor.

      Cons

      Bullying and incompetent PIs are rampant and well known but HR aren't willing to do anything about it. Makes the workplace a living hell if you're under one of the terrible supervisors/PIs.
