Pros

The office is in central Manchester. The majority of people who work there are decent and hardworking.

Cons

No job security - a revolving door of new hires and sackings for no good reason. I was given a pay rise and then fired very suddenly with no warning - HR told me 'we don't need a good reason to let you go' which was beyond belief. This week they have dissolved an entire team and let at least three individuals go. Very cut throat - senior managers brought in as a beauty parade for investors. My team witnessed sexist and xenophobic behaviour from at least two of these during meetings which made everyone, including a girl on work experience very uncomfortable. Senior Managers turn a blind-eye to this behaviour because they are so focused on growing sales.

Pros

Not so much a “Pro” but on behalf of people who ACTUALLY WORK at AccessPay I need to let you know that a lot of the reviews here are posts from a disgruntled team that got disbanded 3.5 years ago. They are very bitter and keep posting about loads of people getting fired every few months. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I wrote the post “Best Place I’ve Ever Worked” and stand by that at the time. The atmosphere is friendly and fun. There’s a big social scene but it does tend to be split between technical and the other departments which is a shame. The office is very relaxed with food provided and music on. You can bring in your own devices to supplement your work. Everything is laptops and there is no strict you must be in the office thing. So long as people are working it’s all good.

Cons

Ok. Don’t give a monkeys about the free food! It’s nothing like healthcare cover for my family, DiS, or a decent pension. The share scheme is a bit of a joke as even if you have the shares you are not treated by the SMT as if you care what’s in the companies best interest. They know best. Everyone else doesn’t know a thing. Rather than educate they keep staff in the dark despite transparency being an important thing. And I think that’s the biggest problem here.... it’s all talk, no do. The company is only as good as its engineering component and this is the area where they are starting to lose people. Pick a direction and follow it through to completion for gods sake! At the moment they allow you to believe you’re going to be doing the right thing and then just as you feel secure it’s all change. It’s jokingly referred to as “The AccessPay Way” by those who’ve been around to see it happen a few times. Oh and engineers, no training here. Everybody else is covered in every department. Not you. Too expensive.
