- not a lot of room for upwards progression due to flat corporate structure and small company size, therefore also limited salary growth. Lots of praise etc around performance bonus but consistent efforts are not necessarily reflected by pay rises (beyond the annual inflationary one) which can make wages uncompetitive relatively quickly.
- no clear progression/pay scale. There are set annual goals, but other companies tend to also use grades or levels to reflect experience in a standardised way, here it's pretty much if your manager believes you're experienced then that's great but if not then you're limited and the lack of transparency makes it hard to argue your case without being dismissed relatively quickly.
