Favors friends over experience, leading to favoritism

Pros

Fewer and fewer every year. This company is really run as a charity for the owner. If you get in the good graces of the President you will not have to work very hard with decent pay.

Cons

The current President is just a friend of the owner who plays favorites and gets rid of anyone with experience in areas she does not have, which is really anything but old school IT. The company is slowly getting smaller and smaller every year and still only really focuses on and understands Blue Cross since that was the golden goose in the past. If you want to grow and learn and be rewarded for being a hard worker this is not the place for you. If you want decent benefits, just coast and be ok with beng mediocre, this will be a good fit. Sadly, the glory days of this company are long over.

Food doesn’t matter

Pros

Benefits are the only thing good

Cons

Being told you have to work the weekend for open enrollment some people get to work from home most of the time and others have to be in the office. They walk around take pictures of how they gave us food when they did not want to be here. They posted and act like it’s such a fun place to work.

Not keeping up with competitors

Pros

Nice benefits and free food given to employees

Cons

Competitors are passing the organization by as we have become stagnant and are stuck in the old Blue Cross Blue Shield world and don't seem interested in evolving. There has been significant challenges since the owner Karl stepped away from day to day operations with a lack of any direction and leaders with no experience outside of Blue Cross.
