Pros

Salary is comparable if not better than other organizations. There are a lot of good staff ( which is thankfull, because management is not helpful, & usually not around.)

Cons

No communication, no compassion for staff, Staff opinions don't matter, hardly have staff meetings if you do it's for management to talk, management is ungrateful, Never hear any compliments, staff stab each other in the back, management treats you like you are bothering them. I've witnessed 2 co-workers arguing and bickering at each other in front of residents and team leader and they get a slap on the wrist. Good, decent, honest, caring staff are let go, or not given shifts, or treated badly, or not listened to, while there are staff sleeping on the job, fighting on the job, there are bullies getting away with a lot of stuff ,AND this company really has a lot of favouritism, certain people can do anything they want, take residents out for hours at a time, put double depends on them & spent money on things and mileage when the funds aren't there... daystaff go on outings and have fun, evening staff are left to do all the cleaning, laundry, etc & can't take people out because there is no funds &/or they were out already.. Very unfair company to work for. If I didn't care for residents, I wouldn't be working here

Pros

Great industry. Front line staff are great to work with

Cons

Senior management needs to be more flexible. The office can be quite toxic. No work life balance. Admin staff bank over time but there are too many restrictions on use.

Understaffing, minimal support from management

Pros

Various hours available. Jobs in various locations. Good place if you can find hours that work for a "second job".

Cons

There is a huge lack of support from management. Everyone is expendable. Compensation is poor (benefits plan is expensive and mandatory). The environment is extremely toxic with a lot of gossip Issues brought up at the office are pushed aside The office is really the "ivory tower" Very little chance to be promoted to supervisor no matter how hard you try to prove yourself. People are often already selected for a promotion and the job advertising is a formality. People who are foreign (a huge proportion of the staff) are mistreated and often looked down upon because of "language barriers"
