Pros

You will meet some cool co workers and learn a valuable lessons about your self worth when it comes to a job

Cons

Ok this will be a long one so I got hired by Dr. Joy about 5 months after I graduated from MA school and I was happier then I have ever been but right away I started to notice major red flags like the house I was supposed to be working at in commerce still has not received any clients and they just had me waiting ok so eventually they just stick me at their LA house on Serrano and one thing I did not realize is that as a Medical Assisting we are taught all aspects of the body including mental illness but I was truly not prepared to deal with this kinds of cases that came through that facility nor was any of the other staff we all just kind of silently brushed it to the side and collected our paychecks so one thing is The Infamous Lewis’s are good people but they are also predators, liars, and very unethical they micro manage all this mundane aspects of the job like making sure the clients count in the bathroom and making sure they out their shoes back in the locker after a outing but when you would message them panicking out how a little boy just got tired of being here and started cutting himself with a shard piece of glass he found in the back yard and cut your hand pretty deep in the process of you trying to stop him they all of a sudden have nothing to say or no kind of protocol except call the police and fill out a SIR report lol oh and “HR” is just one singular person who gets tired and ends up quitting and DR. Joy pretends to be HR until they find someone else me and her has numerous back and forth text messages while I worked for them so I could easily tell when she would play HR lmao Oh and the best part they are Ok with slave labor so there is such a high turn over rate that your co workers will always quit on you leaving someone to have to cover the shift and the Lewis’s are not going to do it so I have worked so many literal 24hr shifts it’s a shame one time when all of the other MAs caught Covid except for me ( Lucky me huh) I pulled a 48 hour shift like literally in the same scrubs and what did the Lewis do stop but and bring me and the kids Pizza because and the kids were like damn you are the only person here and of course either the Lewises or one of their minions will comment below saying I am full of it but I still have the check stubs to prove those long slave hours I worked so yea you guys are POS and you know it

Manipulative, condescending, and cruel management

Pros

The therapists and flood staff are incredible people, they stay to work because what would happen to the kids if they quit? Management does not care by any means.

Cons

You are paid minimum wage in terrible working conditions where management will do anything to cut costs including having inefficient amounts of food, staff, and supervision. Clients sneak in drugs, have sex, and are not given the proper amount of care. Management does not care about the clients, only the income, and appearance of the facility. Employees are treated with utter disrespect it is repulsive. NOTICE HOW THE ONLY GOOD REVIEWS ARE DONE BY THE SAME PERSON IN ADMISSIONS.

Pros

Great coworkers. If you’re there for clinical experience there will be a lot to learn.

Cons

Almost everything. The facilities are so micromanaged that it took days for purchases to be approved for items that were needed immediately, including food. Management will continually ask you to do things that challenge anyone’s ethical standards. I witnessed several instances of illegal behavior. The high turnover rate produces a “treatment program” in which clients (and employees) with abandonment issues are retraumatized over and over again. Do not expect good training in how to interact with troubled teenagers. Do not expect to receive much support in figuring out how to do your job correctly: it’s “sink or swim.” The instability combined with no one knowing how to do their jobs makes for dangerous working conditions that only harm, not help, clients and staff. Because hardly anyone stays around you are not only worked to the bone but exposed to constant emotional distress from people leaving. The pay is atrocious. A floor staff member cautioned me when I first arrived at the facility: “No one has been here that long. The only thing good about this place is the kids. They’re going to work you to death.” Unfortunately, she was 100% correct. Based on my experience I’m not convinced that the owners are actually interested in helping clients. Money and cutting costs matter more to them
