Pros

When you first come in, you learn a lot. I felt well prepared for my position and what was expected of me. Worked on a project that ended and gave me an opportunity to work in another dept. Starting pay is decent.

Cons

If you transfer departments, it is sink or swim. They don't train you, you just have to figure it out. Pay increases are a joke. Company is constantly restructuring and it seems to promote the bad apples. There seems to be dofferent sets of rules for everyone. Some can work from home, some can't. No rhyme or reason. Heaven forbid you can't get there due to snow. Management told us we have to shut down due to a busted pipe on Elm Hill Pike. We either had to make up the time or they took your PTO. Also, the State of TN recognizes full time as 36 hrs. As a salaried employee, you are expected to work overtime (all the time) with no pay but if you are short of 40 hours by 5 minutes and you don't make up that time, they take it from your PTO.

Pros

Learned more about billing and coding by doing this job. Opened many opportunities up for me. Improved my writing skills. Improved my research skills. Assigned a Sr. Fraud Investigator as a mentor. Was given chances to travel and do things that I wouldn't have thought I would be able to. Able to spot fraud in a private setting.

Cons

Was unable to do the job that I really wanted to because I wasn't a nurse. Dog and pony shows when FBI and ASACs would come in. Never ending passwords for different systems - I believe I had about 12 at a time. Very disappointed that a handful of cases were accepted by law enforcement - was very discouraged by that. Saw things go on in upper management that left a bad taste in my mouth. Saying all of this, I am glad that I worked there and learned so much to help me on future endeavors.

Pros

Flexible work schedule, relaxed office environment, opportunity to work from home, decent starting pay, excellent lower management.

Cons

The company has rampant communications issues between upper/middle management and rest of the employees. They needlessly withhold or misrepresent information (especially with respect to subcontractors). Not to mention they put all their eggs in one basket with the UPIC contracts and with the loss of those contracts, entire branches are being laid off. The hiring practices seem ridiculous at every turn. The company rushes to fill positions and more often than not, gets under-qualified employees. The situation gets more absurd with the loss of the UPIC contracts, and contractual obligations to be fully staffed. As a side note, starting salaries are good, but the raises are stingy at best.
