Pros
Good place to gain experience running the 10 to 15 calls in your 12 hour shift. Excellent environment to get to know other providers to gain outside employment down the road once you get burned out. All the over time you and your family can possibly handle. Oh and don't forget the free Employee Assistance Program, that will definitely come in handy at some point. Easy to move up in seniority, really, really, quickly. Dynamic posting plan which gives you a lot of opportunity to see city.
Cons
Long thankless shifts. Very clicky, decisions are based upon how much of a company man you are willing to become. Low pay, and when you move from a 12 hour truck to a 24 hour truck make sure you don't get paid less than minimum wage... as has happened. Calling in sick will result in threats and verbal abuse.
