Pros

1. if you are interested in japanese culture and language, this company is for you because they offer intensive training to learn japanese and at the same time improve your IT skills. 2. opportunity to work in japan 3. good working environment and people 4. additional allowances if you passed level 1 and 2 japanese exams.

Cons

1. slow promotions and low salary increase if your contributions and skills are not visible by management especially for onsite assignment employees. 2. A,B,C guessing of evaluation performance for onsite employees, not knowing their efforts and contributions to their clients. 3. no work-life balance. daily overtime and often weekends. overtime became a habit in this company due to wrong estimations and to fulfill the request of demanding clients. 4. cannot focus/improve on 1 skill, different projects different skills are needed so if they lack of people, even you are not knowledgeable they still include you in their team which may lead to technical skill issues. 5. allowances never increase despite of the increase of commodity prices and standard of living. 6. since most are japanese clients, you have to adjust with their cultures which #1 is OT.

Good training ground for fresh graduates

Pros

The company has a good training package for fresh graduates. For people interested in learning Japanese, this company is suited for you. The work environment is friendly and people have good relationships with each other. They have flexible time-in plan. Employees have opportunity to gain experience in different technologies and business domains depending on the project assignment.

Cons

Some hectic projects require employees to work on weekends. There are fairly a number of cases that requires employees to work overtime and overnight in order to meet deadlines due to incorrect estimation of work. Because of the project-based culture in the company, employees have limited chances of choosing the type of work, technology or domain that they want to focus on. To be able to acquire expertise on specific technical skills as well as business domain, one has to be in the right place at the right time in order to be included in the right project.

It's a trap.

Pros

The Nihongo training here is the best. Other Japanese companies don't have an intensive nihongo training like AWS. In other words, trainings are great. AWS is a great stepping stone if you want a JLPT certificate and a Philnits certificate. Their Action training is great in all aspects you will be honed as a valuable applicant in the future. You might have to lend them your body and soul for two years but I think it's worth it (if, and only IF you really love japan) There's Japanese training even after the initial training so you continue to improve your Japanese Language. There are lots of materials and you get to work with Japanese documents and clients which really forces you to make an effort in learning come such time that you're already vomiting kanji. Feel free to file leaves without pay all the time, be late and no one would care. BUT if you are really needed they don't care if you're having a brain surgery at the moment, some would make you report to work. After surviving hell, you're most likely able to handle anything and say come at me bro! Think of it as a training for endurance physically, intellectually and emotionally. After working here you can sell yourself easily outside to other companies. Despite the cons I wrote here I'm really happy I chose to work in AWS. Some departments are okay and fun. Others are really NOT. Sadly, I was in the Not so fun department. They aren't really strict with house rules. They will just warn you and that's that.

Cons

The trap here is that the HR would initially tell you that you have a high chance of going to Japan. That's true if you're lucky. If you're not, you could wait in vain for years. Positive thinking: keep on improving Japanese because that's the only useful benefit you're getting from this company (This is your reward for being underpaid and overworked ) After the training your growth as a hardcore developer will slow down or most likely stop. Common projects are testing, documentation or maintenance of proprietary things. Thankfully the management has the initiative now to explore new things(not really new anymore) like cloud computing etc. OT is very usual here. Say farewell to your family and friends for the mean time. The worst case here is that you don:t get to go home for 2 straight nights. and for those 2 straight nights you're awake and working! They tend to accept big projects to be done in a short amount of time knowing that their employees don't have the skills for that project. They also designed your salary like this: minimal basic salary, max allowances. They made it like that saying that they want to avoid having their employees taxed(lolsure). That would be great if you were assigned to a project that doesn't really do much otherwise you're in it for the downside. BUT with that very small basic salary your OT pay would also be small. Even if you work 200 to 300 hours for this company(that happens a lot) your OT pay won't be as much as you expect it to be. They treat OT here as if it were a requirement. If you don't render, you're a sinner, go to Cyrene and have yourself crucified. True story bro, just a little exaggerated. Remember, as an employee, you don't have rights. Because this is a small company(dreaming big), having big responsibilities is common. The catch there is you have important responsibilities, you contribute a lot but your salary is the salary of a fresh graduate. You're in a bond? Live with it because you don't have any other choice anyway. Believe it or not you DO have options ;) It's like thinking of ways to break out of prison. But time would go so fast you won't even notice. One day you'll just wake up look into the mirror before going to another day of hell and you'll find yourself decaying and the bond is over.
