Pros

The company is lean on management, so the professionals have minimal management oversight. The professional staff has to keep clients happy and submit a detailed monthly progress report. Senior management and services such as HR and Payroll are always available to the staff. As long as the monthly reports show that the contractually-required work is being accomplished and the client is happy, the company is willing to maintain its hands-off approach (for professional staff).

Cons

The word Affordable in the company name is a key feature. Overhead is kept low, which means that the physical work environment may not be anything to brag about. The benefits package is minimal--the major deficiency is the lack of paid sick leave.

Pros

I don't know about any other location, just the Elizabeth City, NC site. Benefits are good and affordable, but this year the healthcare option switched to a less comprehensive option for the same price. Union job so you have job security for the most part and guaranteed pay raises. You won't find better in this area.

Cons

Management is toxic here and you have to "play the game". Don't bother thinking you can change it either, there's no proper HR channels to report to with AES as they never email you back or answer the phones. Nepotism runs rampant here. Mind you, all of this sounds bad and it is, but the pay is good and the benefits are affordable so the job is mostly worth it.
