Pros

There are not that many pros in all honesty. When traveling you get to stay in nice hotels and points. However, the client picks all of that up not the company.

Cons

They are extremely late in paying their 1099 consultant staff. They claim to be net 30 however it can often take well over 90 days to get paid. They will also not pick up the interest since you are using your own personal card. Favoritism runs rampant within the organization and is seen constantly. If you are leading an event you will most likely be assigned last minute even if the event was booked months in advance which is frustrating as you will not be able to build the client relationship. Leadership leads from behind not in front all while preaching how great they are and saying how poor you are.

Pros

This place is toxic especially if you are a woman or POC.

Cons

The absolute worst experience of my career was working at Afterburner as a full-time employee. The CEO has no clue how arrogant and pompous he comes across when conversing with potential clients. The leadership team is so far removed from reality, it's crazy. When the pandemic hit, it got worse. They expected the sales team to pull in revenue when we had no product to sell or even a true GTM strategy. Leadership made poor decisions by letting go of marketing and salespeople in order to save their large overpaid salaries and expected the people left to patch the hole on a sinking ship.

Pros

Afterburner is a small company with tons of opportunity for growth. Clients consist of Fortune 500 type companies and Afterburner is often brought in at the VP to C-Suite level. No day is the same and every employee is challenged. This is not a job for a clock watcher, but if you are hungry and willing to put in the work, there is no better reward than seeing your value immediately impact the bottom line of a company.

Cons

Afterburner has struggled with hiring the right talent over the years. They are a small company that oftentimes feels like a family but this has cause them to hold on to employees too long on occasion. Hiring effectively and narrowing their focus will be key to scaling.
