Pros

Fancy office, high profile client list, champagne toasts for big achievements and lots of travel. This all seems spectacular to outsiders looking in, but the above is not what makes a work environment comfortable, safe and fulfilling. The experience you walk away with is priceless (your bank account will be empty bc the pay is terrible but you'll be a talented event planner). You will travel extensively and work under extreme pressure. You'll be a great problem solver and you'll be able to think on your toes.

Cons

Managers are there to teach you, guide you and improve your overall skill set. This is not the case with the mgmt at EA. If you enjoy working lengthy hours for very little pay and hearing non-stop temper tantrums from the CEO, this is the place for you. The environment is toxic. Lots of backstabbing, belittling and frustration fill the four walls of this office. I do not like focusing on the negative, but when it comes to EA, there's not much else to focus on from an employee standpoint. The reviews are personal opinions, but the non-stop turnover proves what a mess this place is.

We are sincerely sorry that you walked away from EA with such an impression. We feel that it does not represent who we are as a company. Despite your perception, we are taking the comments left here into consideration and constantly striving for improvement.

Pros

The office is clean and professional looking. It’s possibly an upside that you’ll get experience because the turnover is so bad.

Cons

Fergus Rooney the managing partner, is the main con and the cause of all the agency’s problems. Rooney mocks and insults every person in the agency. He screams during meetings because nothing is ever good enough. This causes unbelievable turnover and leads to work attended by freshmen with no experience scrambling. Then, because the work falls behind, he insults and screams even more. Thus, the majority of the agent life is spent on a pathetic and unnecessary goal: how do we avoid being yelled at for an hour? You only survive if you can sit there and take verbal punishment while admitting how wrong and dumb you are. And, to make it even worse, Fergus acts as if he is the event industry’s gift from God and has grandiose illusions about his agency’s greatness. In sum, 99% of my coworkers were miserable and planning on leaving as soon as possible. That will be you, if you work here.

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion of agencyEA. We take all perspectives and opinions into account as we continually seek to improve the agency. We regret to hear your experience was negative. We are proud of EA's low 13% annual turnover rate, compared to the 30% industry average, as well as our recognition as a Best Place to Work by Crain's, AdAge and Event Marketer, which is determined and awarded based on company-wide employee surveys. We welcome the opportunity to speak with you further about your experience and feedback, at general@agencyEA.com.

Pros

You get to see some cool venues in the Chicago area. Constant turnover at this office so they are always looking for people to fill positions.

Cons

"If you are the type of person that likes to make it to a yoga class or have dinner at home that will have to change" This job has zero work/life balance. You will enjoy long days at the office, you will be ridiculed if you try to leave at a decent hour no matter how early you arrive at the office. This agency is incredibly unprofessional in the way that things are conducted. There is absolutely no respect for anyones time and the well being of employees isn't important. Every meeting is used as a social gathering so things do not get done in a timely manner. Ultimately this leads to incredible stress, irritation and overly long hours that wouldn't be needed if everyone could conduct themselves professionally in the first place. These things are just the tip of the iceberg, there were even more problems that I won't delve into.

Thank you for sharing feedback about your experience working with agencyEA. It’s disappointing to learn this, but your insight contributes to the greater good of our organization moving forward. While the event and experiential marketing industry is, by nature, a demanding one, we do sincerely value work/life balance and continuously strive to establish, maintain and support a strong one for our employees every day. Most recently, Event Marketer magazine even recognized agencyEA as a best place to work in events, and in turn, we recognize that our success as a team is dependent on the success and happiness of each individual team member. We will keep your comments in mind as our agency grows and evolves, as this type of valuable input enables us to do so. If you have additional feedback/comments on how we can achieve a better working environment, or questions, please reach out directly via general@agencyEA.com.
