Engineering at Airplane is tackling a really challenging, amorphous space and has a ton of freedom to build the best product possible. Airplane is building towards a better way to code - it's cool being able to build products for builders and kind of dream up where software development should be headed. The company is small enough that it can pivot quickly as new ideas pop up. The team is quite small and really talented. It's not a cake-walk; Airplane is building something really challenging that has some pretty strong incumbents, but day to day is more encouraging and challenging than stressful. The company has a lot of funding and I love that, unlike past companies, leadership is willing to spend some of that on their employees. Happy hours, lunches, and regular retreats mix things up so that working hard feels extra rewarding. Everyone has a ton of respect for Josh (founder) and although scaling a startup is a grind, leadership has been doing a great job thus far.
