Misleading and degrading

Pros

Free/discounted product, consistent 40 hour work week.

Cons

It's true, the office is pampered while warehouse workers are viewed as grunt laborers. Met a lot of great people with college degrees hoping to make a difference, willing to take any job to get in, with practically no hopeful outlook to advance. No, it doesn't make you entitled, but after mentioning my passion for the work Alaffia aims to do while babbling endlessly in my interview about my degree and its relevance to their mission, they ultimamtely didn't care. It was a harsh reality check. For one, there's no climate control in the warehouse which likely makes products unstable or sour, employees sweating like pigs to do their jobs, and the office workers sauntering around in shorts and ugly shoes congratulating themselves all the while being fake, ingenuine, and apathetic toward warehouse employees. Great, cold filtered water in stupid little cones. Would be refreshing if we weren't practically cloying for breath while slipping in our sweat attempting to get it. Completely degrading. Scanners in shipping are "too expensive" so it's better to exploit workers by giving a difficult average to reach while keeping wages pathetically low for the environment expected to work in. There's no signs anywhere describing how to report an injury. A workers bus came by where we were given the once in a lifetime privilege of signing our names on the bus with a pen while taking a corny picture wearing plastic orange hats. Everyone had to wear the orange hat. It was degrading, but the highlight of my time spent there because it was 15 minutes where I wasn't paid to be dying of heat stroke. No feedback is taken seriously. Management is apathetic regarding workplace harrassment, and show complete lack of moxy and tact. I wouldn't recommend this workplace to my worst enemy.

Alaffia Response

It appears this former employee, post dated 7/8/14, worked at Alaffia a while ago. Alaffia has always strived to foster a working environment that is team oriented and peaceful, and it is unfortunate that he/she did not have a positive experience. However, Alaffia now has a Human Resources department that was put into place over a year ago. Health benefits are currently provided to employees. Even amidst its rapid growth, Alaffia continues stay focused on and appreciative of the employees that help make that growth possible.

Pros

Alaffia puts on a great “ Performance” The ORIGINAL mission Past staff Will hire anyone

Cons

Alaffia no longer has integrity, honesty or any truth behind it. It is all about achieving recognition for the one owner and executive team. There is NO equality or empowerment (what they preach). The pay is terrible and your skills and input have no impact. Staff is taken advantage of and belittled. You will not be heard by your supervisors, managers, directors or VPs. People are bullied till they leave. Working overtime with no compensation is a usual. There is no opportunity for growth, they just hire out. It is too bad that this company is now all just for SHOW. Don’t believe the lies, and if you join, you will be TOLD to join these lies, and question your ethics, especially in the Marketing department where the management has no experience and no clue what they are doing, they play favorites with employees and treat the employees like peasants. There is no training or organization. They will expect you to just know what to do and get things right the first time without training or experience. Then it will be handled unprofessionally to degrade you.
