Family Company Growing Bigger and Bigger

Pros

Alarm New England for over 4+ years has taught me invaluable lessons and life skills I will forever be grateful for. I've grown up with this company as they have continued to grow into New England's premier security company. This is fast-paced environment. From some of the other reviews it seems others have struggled to keep up with upper management's expectations (VP, Sales Manager, CEO) who are wanting the same enthusiasm and effort from their team members that they put in too. I've worked alongside some of the smartest/nicest people here at Alarm New England and that has a rising tide effect that is invaluable.

Cons

Fast-paced, demanding job. Perks of job that of a smaller family company (e.g not HubSpot)

Pros

hour long lunch, but it was unpaid so you were there for a full 9 hours but one was lunch.

Cons

The higher ups are absolutely not motivated and not helpful. VP is lazy and frequently came in late and left early and was little to no help and offered no training even though I asked for it. Training was all through the systems we used…training programs online, not much was learned prior to being on the phones from current employees. They had me self train on stuff i had no idea of and was told to “google” things instead of being helped by the vice president of the company whom i reported to. I was expected to do way more than I could handle and was spoken down to and told to be a team player when I stated I had too much work. only trainer is so busy she never has any time to speak with you further for extra training because she is given way too much to deal with. you miss that part of your lunch if you’re late on a call. I was frequently spoken down to by the VP and even told i was “taking advantage of the system” by requesting time off that I was eligible for. I was let go for “performance” but the only examples I was given were calls I personally asked for more help and training on. They expect you at 6 months to know everything but without the training it’s impossible and your team is busy because they are short staffed so it’s very hard to get things done. I could go on…but do not work here unless you are good with high stress, mediocre pay for what is required of you, management that is rarely available or not willing to help very much and a very condescending VP who only cares about the sales/making money aspect and will give you attitude when you ask for help or state your limits. No one is on the same page and everyone throws work around to others.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are no doubt an ambitious and high performing organization which can be stressful for some people. We feel that our six weeks of training is sufficient for team members to get off to a good start as evidenced by the multiple successful team members who have ramped through this process in the past couple of years. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.
