Pros

Tours themselves are fun, and coworkers are amazing!

Cons

Every thing else. Mismanaged and operated. I got hired for a job that didn't yet exist, in a building that wasn't built. I was to help design a new program but led to believe it was already operational. I made far less income than promised. When we renegotiated hourly income to what was specidied at hire (since there was no way to make commission without any sales), they then cut our hours the following week to 32. I asked to cross train to get more hours, even offering to wash buses and told no. Had many technical IT problems daily that interfered with job abilities. Also management "quarterly reviews" when they did happen, we're terribly done. For example I got a 3/5 in punctuality and attendance. I was never late or missed a day of work. I arrived at the same exact time as my coworkers (I usually drove them to work because the company couldn't organize a successful shuttle system) anf they received 5's. When I asked about it they said they could not recollect a time that I was ever late. They refused to change my "evaluation" however. I stuck it out the season with a smile on my face, and it was even up and running more smoothly and quite fun the end. Most people would have quit straight from the start but I stick to what I commit to. I felt like I did a ton for the company, had lots of ideas, worked hard, and was valuable in designing a new section of their tour operations. They don't want you to have ideas though, they want you to mindless go about your duties and say how happy you are. For many, that works out great. I was hired for a position that did not exis tho, and in order to build the program we had to have thoughts and ideas. The program now is successful, thanks to us "unrehirables." You're welcome AE for our knowledge, commitment, and trial and error. Even though you clearly never values us.

Pros

Great people to work with and incredible location

Cons

Don’t work for them. There are many companies in Skagway to work for that aren’t Alaska Excursions. They will screw you over, steal your bonus, provide you with moldy, condemned housing, and treat you like you are the dogs they run. They safety is poor and overlooked and that is why they have had several guest and employee accidents. Find a different company to work for.
