Pros

Great co-workers Easy to get hired

Cons

-Under employed. They say 30 hours is full time and expect us to cover extra shifts 24/7. -Phone rings off the hook day and night. -Pay is low. People that have worked here for 10-20 years make $1-2 more than new hires.

Male only leadership in a female dominated field

Pros

Kerr is filled with committed, competent and hard working employees and does incredibly needed work. Excellent benefits once you've been with the agency for a while and opportunities for innovation if you are looked upon favorably by management.

Cons

In an industry that is dominated by women Kerr has an all male chief team. In addition many strong, respected women were coached out or forced out of the organization soon after the new CEO, Jeff Carr, entered his role. This highlights a concerning trend and change in the organization toward misogyny which is not just due to the CEO but has been inherently supported by the board and the other senior leaders. Given the work being done at Kerr it is sad this fact seems to be simply accepted by those in power. As a woman in this organization I can say I feel much less safe to speak my mind and my once deep commitment to Kerr has dwindled leaving me with a job, no longer a home for my passion. This is common among my peers as well and is clearly evident in our rate of staff departures and challenges with filling vacancies. A final note, pay for direct service employees is grossly low which leads to significant turnover rates and significantly detrimentally impacts those who receive services through Kerr. Continuity of staff is directly linked to good outcomes in care.
