Pros

- Entire company feels like a close knit family - One of the best missions... to serve unmet and poorly met medical needs - Well equipped research facilities focused on early stage medical device development - History of innovation which can be inspiring - Beautiful park like location with onsite gym, volleyball, basketball and tons of acreage for any fitness activity - Great health benefits and work life balance is second to none

Cons

- The company is low on cash endowment and is slow to commit resources at the moment - Newer projects seem... less innovative... do not provide enough value... progress too slowly to compete in the saturated markets of neuro-stimulation and myoelectric sensing

Pros

How would you like to work in a place that creates medical products that make a huge -- perhaps life saving -- difference in peoples lives? That's what they do at the Alfred Mann Foundation. The culture is professional and collegial and you get to work with highly educated and competent people. Medical research requires an extensive, standardized documentation process and technical writers are valued for their contribution in helping everyone achieve that.

Cons

I have no cons to offer about this group. I got to know a majority of the people there and I observed that the only complainers were people who were not particularly good at their work. The complainers weren't bad people -- they were good people who were in the process of removing themselves from a good and important group. I will say, though, that research is a trial-and-error process. There is sometimes the feeling that a lot of effort just went into something for no result. You just need to know that the feeling of life-saving and life-changing success will make it all worthwhile.
