Huge career setback

Pros

Leadership sells the company really well during the interview and social media phase; you’re allowed to work remotely for now, the employees outside of management are smart and dedicated.

Cons

Nothing that was promised during the interviews or at any point in the time that I’ve worked here has come true. Leadership is fixated on the image of the company on social media and attracts smart people by luring them in with promises of high bonuses, mentorship, travel, and transparency. None of that comes true. You’ll never see a bonus, you’re thrown into projects with no guidance, and colleagues disappear constantly because leadership fires people constantly with no plans to replace or restructure. No IT team. Don’t plan on ever seeing a bonus. Comp is about 40% lower than other firms. No promotion structure at all. Leadership hires their friends from college and puts them in high positions of management.

What it was vs What it is

Pros

• Work mates • Leadership Reachability • Fast paced learning

Cons

Working in Alira is a rollercoaster, sometimes you feel like you can achieve everything and other times you feel absolute despair from the lack of organisation and the lack of decision making. This has been apparent in the last year changes, for a company that specializes in doing CDDs they failed their own CDD. The aquisitions that were supposed to bring great opportunities ended up being pools of wasted money, time and resources at the expense of workers not getting their full bonus for the past years (why is an analyst penalised for the d*** decisions of leadership?). Leaking money out of every pore extravagant offices in the best neighborhoods of major cities for hosting 5-10 people daily. New people might not notice the change the company has gone through in the past years, how we used to really have a united team spirit and not this "We are one" communist propaganda with slogans and messages that are really not solving the issues of the people. Lastly and to conclude it is a shame to see a company that used to offer very competitive salaries transform into a company that now offers the bare minimun, is unable to provide a growth and career plan when requested to and offers minimal benefit and economical incentives to retain talent. Rant over

Pros

-Nice colleagues and a manageable WLB depending on your team -Good exposure to clients -May be better for the experienced/seniors or those who want to exit within 1-3 years

Cons

-Very poor compensation, below market average -Limited resources for learning and tools for project delivery -Lack of a proper organizational structure -Basically no HR, probably worst in the business -Not a diverse or strong leadership -Growth seems to be more focused on acquisition, rather than investing in and retaining talent There are many better consulting firm options, keep looking.
