Pros

Benefits: 401K match is good if you can afford it. FSA PTO EIP

Cons

Management: the senior management is absolutely horrendous when it comes to anything but barking orders. They are oblivious to caring about anything but producing and pleasing the clientele. Pay: disgustingly low paying job. If you are looking to live comfortably. Alpha is not the place to be. Their benefits are moderately expensive. And the pay is ridiculous. They hire people with little to no experience so they can pay them cheap. Knowing that the employee will be terrible in every aspect of the job. This shows employees with experience that they don’t care. Growth: there is no growth what so ever. Overall:Alpha seems to not care about their employees. They completely disregard problems and try to tape the bullet wound with a “pizza party”.

Pros

Nice people Flexible hours Learn a lot Good stepping stone

Cons

Underpaid and exploited. They milked the holy hell out of COVID as far as not giving us raises or bonuses. However, that didn’t stop them from throwing more work on people. People who asked for a raise were given the “pay your dues, work hard, and reap the benefits” spiel from a president/COO who inherited all of his wealth. They throw as much work as they can on you and keep you at the same price. Then when a bunch of people jump ship, the same president/COO comes in and preaches about culture.

Alpha Analytical Labs Response

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback. Alpha Analytical understands that, as the company grows and continues to be successful, we have experienced growing pains. This, combined with the labor shortage that many companies are experiencing, has created more work for fewer employees. We do not exploit our employees and appreciate every employee's hard work. We have recently increased all pay for employees in addition to giving out two quarterly bonuses recently as part of our employee incentive program. Our employee incentive program is based on sales, so the amount of work that we have coming in to all of our facilities allows us to be able to earn the bonuses that we receive. All of our employees receive bonuses on a yearly basis. Our president, Mark Woelfel has been with Alpha Analytical for 20 years and has an open door policy with all employees. He strives to make improvements across all departments based on the feedback he receives.

Pros

Coworkers are wonderful. The environment in the extraction and analytical departments is overall relaxed and accepting. Being able to listen to music and and have open dialogue with coworkers is a plus. This work is incredibly important. Explanations for situations are heard and respected.

Cons

More PTO than other places in U.S. but behind the times compared to other companies and countries. Strict PTO usage, must meet precisely 40 hrs. a week or else PTO gets taken to compensate; however overtime during the same period does not get counted towards an under-40-hour week. People working schedules different than M-F 9-5 sometimes get forced to use PTO during major holidays. Winter weather hazards are taken as PTO or come in at your own risk; company will shut down and not compensate pay most of the time. Workers comp is tricky and hard approved. A physically demanding job, barely any time or space to sit, take breaks, and take a full lunch; prepare to stand stationary for a majority of the day. Organization and storage is a mess. Some health, safety, accessibility concerns ignored. Very money oriented for upper management at expense of lower-tier employees: inflation is currently 9%, clients are being charged an energy and inflation surcharge of 7.5%, but lab employees received a raise of 3% or less. Many conversations and goals get forgotten. I have heard nothing but sub-par things about the high-sitting people at the company. The LEAN program is draining and mostly unhelpful. Continuous improvement is forced. Barely any accessibility accompidations if you are physically disabled or have mental conditions.
