Hostile Work Environment

Pros

Jireh Semiconductor is willing to pay you just about anything you want. The squeaky wheel gets the most oil. CEO genuinely cares about bringing manufacturing back to America and is very motivational.

Cons

Poor communication, high stress, hostile work environment. Company has over-committed to customers and cannot keep up with demand. So although business is good, the work environment is extremely negative and morale is at an all time low.

Pros

Decent benefits (ESPP, good 401k fund options but no matching, good health care). There are some very capable employees that have a lot to teach. Some lower level managers are very good and care for their employees.

Cons

The company is dominantly Chinese in culture and practice. It is a truly bi-lingual workplace where business is often discussed in Chinese. If you don't speak Chinese, expect to miss out on a lot of the goings on. Not at all goal oriented. Butt-in-chair time is valued much higher than finishing tasks efficiently or optimizing work flows. There is a culture of "get it done now" rather than "get it done right." Specs are often out of date or non-existent for some tasks. Fab systems are very old and the tribal knowledge of how to do certain things has been lost when other employees moved on. With the lack of training, this makes completing some assigned tasks very difficult. I did not get the feeling that employees were valued. Skipping cost-of-living raises, lots of blame shifting. Even little things like using the building side entrance as the main entrance when there is a fully decorated lobby in the front.

Pros

Some good peers in engineering, tech & operator groups Equipment is good for what they are running, just needs to be kept up In house cafeteria was convenient Proximity of fab to office area was ideal WIP software is dated, but was built very well by IDT folks

Cons

Chinese owned & Chinese employees were treated better Too much Chinese spoken in blended English-Chinese groups Mamagement was disorganized, had poor leadership skills & they need to learn to listen to their employees - especially when an employee calls a 1:1 with their mgr to discuss the manager's failure to listen Management was disrespectful of employees HR was just the disciplinary hand of mgmt, were not friendly, accommodating or helpful Equipment not kept up well Tool recipe mgmt not well controlled Some engineering peers were dead weighf, but kept on solely due to personal relationship(s) with mgmt Other engineers would throw colleagues under the bus for their own gain
