Corporate reads “hourly” as “disposable.”
Pros
The patients are awesome! It’s extremely fulfilling helping others find alternative medication’s that improve their quality of life.
Cons
That being said, the work atmosphere in my store is soul-crushing and full of toxic masculinity. I had horrible experiences with HR, my GM refused to approve my reasonable accommodation request that I’m ENTITLED to. It’s even more frustrating because I really did love this job at first, but I can confidentially say that the series of events that has unfolded has severely impacted my mental and physical health. Rampant sexism, homophobia, retaliation, and a completely disconnected and disinterested corporate makes $15 an hour no where near worth the struggle. I’ve excelled in every position I’ve held so far, but now I find that my usual MO of going the extra mile just means picking up the slack of others. The catch is that if I stop doing so, we’re all punished in some way or another by management.
