Pros

In short, Alta is a fun environment, full of really great people working hard for a man who exemplifies corporate greed. He does not care about the people who’ve helped him become the extremely wealthy, albeit conservative beyond measure, man that he is today. He cares where his next $1MM is coming from. Period.

Cons

Pay is incredibly low, bonuses are non-existent. Incentives equivalent to pennies. Lacking in integrity, offering a mere fraction of what the client pays Alta for the job you are doing while keeping up to three quarters for themselves. And because the pay is so low, often times that same employee is working an additional job or two simply to get by. Annual increases are provided, but are incredibly low, are predetermined, and are not at all representative to the work you do - a “generous” 1.5% for all is the mentality here. HR created salary scales are extremely disproportionate, again ensuring Alta is keeping every single possible penny for themselves. Along with a small client team, I worked to grow a well known e-commerce platform from $2MM in annual sales to $88MM in annual sales over four years. Alta compensated me for that amazing growth and achievement with pennies each year, totaling a pay increase of $1.08 across all four years. One might think growth of $86 million would justify some kind of recognition, but not here. They don’t celebrate successes. This is hands down the worst company I’ve worked for in terms of compensation, incentives, retention, appreciation, gratitude, recognition, and acknowledgment. In a world where so many employers show gratitude so well, and so often, it would be a challenge to find a company who would appreciate you less! Stop wasting your time here!

Pros

Do you like being treated like a machine at work? Do you like the idea of a career with low wages (even with a college degree) and the opportunity for absolutely no growth/advancement at your position? Do you like the idea of being outsourced to huge corporations? Then do I have a place to work for you! Come to the fabulous Alta Resource!

Pros

Leaving was probably the best thing.

Cons

I wasn't on the phones, and I'm not sure how anyone can do that their whole life. Your co-workers suck which makes one wonder if it's because that's the way they are, or if Alta has sucked the fun out of them. It's probably a combination of both. I have never seen a worse company culture ever than I have at Alta. Nobody ever worked as a team where I was, and God help you if you have a question. You'll reach a point where you'll go home with a headache every day, maybe kick your dog, and when you're at work you'll wish you were any one of the seagulls flying around the building - maybe even the one that occasionally hits the building. You may even contemplate going to the roof and just telling yourself that all you need to do is "take one more step," if you work here, and honestly I'm surprised nobody hasn't. I found myself scheduling time in offices to do phone interviews around the week two mark of employment - only to find that what I thought was a career move at Alta, almost hindered my employ-ability because of the stigma that Alta has in the business world - it's terrible, Alta is a joke to people. Honestly the fact that I was able to leave this place alive is an honest-to-God miracle. I hated working here, hated the co-workers (who are typically either really old, got pregnant at 18 or younger, or are settling as a call-center worker because they don't like working very hard), and hated my life during this time spent here. Do yourself a favor and install a block on their URL to never EVER consider this place as an employer. Some say that their insurance is good, but they don't realize it's only "good" because it's cheap - the actual insurance is awful. The best day of my life was putting a note on my boss' desk saying I'm resigning effective immediately.
