Pros

Some smart individuals Good mission ideals

Cons

Leadership is retaliatory, smug, and doesn't want to hear the advice of the experts they've brought on, praising the people who are acting as 'yes men'. They gaslight and fire employees for poor execution or interpretation when the leadership is wholly responsible for causing communication breakdowns and contradictory statements. They also need to be involved in every single chat communication, making it frustratingly disruptive and difficult for teams to move quickly. Engineering leadership’s resistance to playing well with others and hoarding power has created an imbalance that makes it hard for non-engineering teams to build good products together with the engineers. No one on the executive leadership team has experience building a product platform, but they won't listen to the people they've hired to do the job. The company culture is highly toxic and combative, with too much hierarchy for a company of its size. They've created a culture where it benefits highly territorial employees to gatekeep knowledge, burned a lot of bridges with employees, and have a completely ass-backwards style of management. Extremely noticeable lack of gender and racial diversity. This is unacceptable in today's world, and it's clear that diversity and inclusion are not priorities for the leadership, and their 'vision' for making a more transparent and equitable supply chain is more about serving their self-righteousness egos than doing good. Healthcare and benefits are less important if you are considering an early stage startup, but even at this stage of a company, they are behind the times. One might as well pay for everything out of pocket because that's the same experience.

Pros

The people at Altana excluding management

Cons

During my tenure, I was the victim of a hostile workplace, a coworker and I were asked to act unethically and I was sexually harassed. After reporting the harassment, unethical behavior, and general toxicity, I was then retaliated against. I was told I wasn't mature enough to handle the situation by management and that they would be layering me and placing someone else in my leadership position. While I was there the average tenure was extremely low which started out due to scaling so quickly but rapidly changed to good people leaving because of management's decisions.

Toxic leadership and unethical practices

Pros

- Pay is good - Lots of options for finding work that engages you

Cons

- Leadership lacks ethics when faced with difficult decisions and they hold subordinates accountable for leadership failures. - Leadership feedback on work performance is wildly inconsistent. One week you will receive a bonus for your work performance, followed by layoffs the next week. This makes employees more concerned with protecting themselves than performing quality work. - More conversations occur on providing the appearance of a working product than actually improving the product. This results in unrealistic expectations towards the customers. - Leadership actively conceals problems at the expense of customers and employees. Example - this company has received several valid negative reviews on glassdoor. I do not know where these reviews went - but looking at the similar dates and titles of the positive postings you can see it is nothing but a deliberate effort by leadership to post positive reviews of their own company with intellectually dishonest "cons".
