Pros

Your experience really depends on your manager and I had a really good so that is the only saving grace for me. - Good work-life balance, there is time for family etc. - Good place to learn to work independently - Manager is very responsive and willing to help - Good exposure to the CRE market If you are looking to cruise by with no ambitions or career progression. This is the place to go to.

Cons

The technology in this company is ancient and I am embarrassed to call a tech company. The platform is loosely pieced together with poor software acquisition, seemed like management rolled the dice when it comes to M&A. No significant improvements were made on core products since I joined, we just repackage and rebrand with buzz words that made ZERO sense. Altus also likes to layer in clueless managers/directors of one colour to micro-manage old staffers and they stay for 2-3 quarters and realised they are in over their heads then quit or asked to leave. The qualify of new hires is a literal joke, we can hire people NO sales experience and POOR command of English for Senior sales positions, to add extra insult to injury, they are paid way higher than current/old staff. Altus likes to reward incompetency! We changed management twice throughout 4 years and recycle ideas that clearly don't work i.e create new departments and force us to work together then break us up and add in new clueless managers to micro manage. a good excuse for management to hire their friends or band mates for VP positions with high salaries. A huge red flag when the CEO Mike Gordon bailed after 3 active quarters in and passed the torch to his bass guitar player.

Pros

If you're happy with minimum pay, sustained unpaid overtime, no proper training, theres a long 'career' for you. Culture was ok with Page Kirkland (headquartered in Sydney) prior to being sold to Altus Group (HQ'd in Canada) and becoming Altus Page Kirkland, part of Altus Group. Flexible working arrangements and great travel with my particular roll, up until a few years ago.

Cons

6 directors sold Page Kirkland to Altus for ~$36m Aug 2010; most left with their bounty. 3 months prior, employee salaries were surreptitiously chopped. After 7 years with pay cuts, no proper training, performance reviews and coercive management practices I Approached my director regarding my concerns and was made redundant. Redundancy was short and expenses not paid. Fair Work Commission has no teeth (a mediation meeting); Altus just fold their arms. Letter to Robert Courteau CEO ignored. Bureaucracy gone mad, and the client pays for it. Low paid under skilled staff in key management positions making things worse.
