(1) Kenn Allen. This man is the most egotistical, self consumed, self idolized person that I have ever had the displeasure to meet. This man "laid off" more than 100 employees in Columbus, Ohio over retribution for not signing a document that he refused to acknowledge was a non-compete. I was told by one of those people that he offered 2 weeks severance with the announcement of the lay offs happening the week before Thanksgiving.
(2) They announced in 2017 that they were doing away with merit and COL raises instead opting for a "bonus" based on your performance throughout the year. However, what they don't tell you is that this is tied entirely to your performance, determined by your manager, and predicated on the company's financials (which are not good). Meaning, that if you're lucky you might get a 1-1.5% "bonus" every year while your base pay stays the same.
(3) Benefits. Far below market benefits. Your health insurance is expensive (for a family plan on the traditional health insurance plan it was $500.00+ per pay check and over $200+ a pay check for the High Deductible Plan). In addition the company only offers a 50% match of up to 6% on your 401(k) with NO bonus or profit share plan. They think they're "generous" by offering you 18 PTO days a year.
(4) The rating. Recently they tried to spin the positive of getting "upgraded" by AM Best to B++ (Positive) which is an absolute joke. Its the epitome of putting lipstick on a pig. Mark my words, Kenn Allen will take his $400k+ salary and drive this company into the ground and laugh while he destroys the lives of hundreds of people.
(5) No remote work. You would think that a company in financial turmoil would look at creative ways to balance the books. But here at AmeriTrust they refuse to look at remote work options for employees, unless, you're anointed by Kenn Allen or senior management.
