Pros

Offered autonomy to do job

Cons

The CEO, one a live stream to the entire company declared “white privilege is another systemic lie. It does not exist.” Also declares that we do not have a right to equal opportunities, that the news media contorts the truth to fit their agenda, and that the country just needs to respect authority again.

Pros

I had a good manager who was in another office from me and trusted me to get the work done.

Cons

(1) Kenn Allen. This man is the most egotistical, self consumed, self idolized person that I have ever had the displeasure to meet. This man "laid off" more than 100 employees in Columbus, Ohio over retribution for not signing a document that he refused to acknowledge was a non-compete. I was told by one of those people that he offered 2 weeks severance with the announcement of the lay offs happening the week before Thanksgiving. (2) They announced in 2017 that they were doing away with merit and COL raises instead opting for a "bonus" based on your performance throughout the year. However, what they don't tell you is that this is tied entirely to your performance, determined by your manager, and predicated on the company's financials (which are not good). Meaning, that if you're lucky you might get a 1-1.5% "bonus" every year while your base pay stays the same. (3) Benefits. Far below market benefits. Your health insurance is expensive (for a family plan on the traditional health insurance plan it was $500.00+ per pay check and over $200+ a pay check for the High Deductible Plan). In addition the company only offers a 50% match of up to 6% on your 401(k) with NO bonus or profit share plan. They think they're "generous" by offering you 18 PTO days a year. (4) The rating. Recently they tried to spin the positive of getting "upgraded" by AM Best to B++ (Positive) which is an absolute joke. Its the epitome of putting lipstick on a pig. Mark my words, Kenn Allen will take his $400k+ salary and drive this company into the ground and laugh while he destroys the lives of hundreds of people. (5) No remote work. You would think that a company in financial turmoil would look at creative ways to balance the books. But here at AmeriTrust they refuse to look at remote work options for employees, unless, you're anointed by Kenn Allen or senior management.

Pros

Central location with a nice office. Some employees are supportive and friendly. Fair pay.

Cons

After 2 years of employment, I had to leave. Unless you're family, very limited chance of advancement or growth. I witnessed a chauvinistic attitude on the agency side from upper management. Enough to make my skin crawl. I also witnessed unethical practices just to get the deal. Not something I could be a part of. I felt some are hired to create a diversified appearance. HR department appears supportive but overruled by the 'good ole boys' mentality of upper management. Very limited access to decent programs. Many clients stay because of family connections. Administrative staff seemed to always be in a bad mood with lots of gossiping and most had a fear of management. It wasn't a team environment. To sum it up, I felt a very toxic environment.
