Pros

The junior designers are talented.

Cons

Every day is chaotic and unhinged due to the principal. She is demeaning, rude, narcissistic, and tyrannical. She’ll critique your outfits and judge your appearance the moment she walks into the office. My duties included peeling her oranges, reheating her soup. and applying tanning lotion to her legs. Be prepared for 7am long texts in the morning to start your day. She also can’t be bothered to remember your name so be prepared to be called “whatever your call yourself”. Any young person applying to this job is better off working at a Starbucks than for this design firm. You don’t need the ptsd. Run don’t walk if you’re offered a position here.

Pros

Amy is always working hard to push boundaries of design for her clients, and tailors each residence to the individual or family so every space she creates is completely different, which keeps everyone on their toes. The bar is set very high, and a lot is expected of everyone to meet the level of detail required. Work / life balance is very important to Amy, so we usually finish each day on time. The team is great, and the office is open plan with beautiful and unique furniture.

Cons

It's a long walk from the subway, and the food options nearby are getting better, but still not great.

Pros

I worked on the design team at Amy Lau Design for nearly five years. When you work with Amy, you are learning from the best of the best. The experience allowed me to see the full extent of the creativity, imagination, thoughtfulness, and artfulness that can go into interior design. Working with Amy is an invaluable crash course in conceiving fully customized interiors, which involves procuring everything from furniture to in-home art installations, lighting, rugs, and window treatments. My knowledge of artisans and manufacturers in the design world expanded ten-fold. Amy is kind and generous. She has a high standard for herself and her team and supports you to grow and gain knowledge and experience. Her firm is well-known and highly admired in the industry. To get the chance to work with and learn from her was a remarkable opportunity.

Cons

This was an ideal experience for me, no cons.
