      Pros

      Seems like a great company if you fit their profile. Great employee perks, cooked meals, lap top provided, cell phone paid, lots of company events.

      Cons

      Lots of inner office drama, felt profiled, some very nice people, lots of very judgemental, arrogant personalities. Hired for a short time, and was fired for simple mistake, that wasn't even mine. HR literally told me someone's head has to roll. Some positions had a lot of turn over, and if you didn't fit in immediately, you will probably be terminated. Lots of people have been there for awhile, but you probably would never hear of the other half that didnt make the cut. Your either in or your out. Advice for someone with a family, I was be causious of taking this gamble.

      It’s a VC firm

      Pros

      Well, as a part of the firm you have two maybe three jobs, 1) make management teams rich 2) make your bosses rich and if you’re lucky 3) make yourself rich. Like all asset management firms AH charges exuberant management fees to institutional investors and pay themselves huge salaries to “asset manage,” and by the virtue of their network have attained some VC economies of scale. Remember, VC’s only care about two things 1) their image and 2) money.

      No firm is perfect but Andreessen Horowitz is about as great as you can get

      Pros

      incredible brand, network and reach. Can win any deal they want to and have built a new approach to venture in an impressive amount of time. Exceptional thoughtfulness to running the org in no small part to the fact many of the team has worked together for decades. Sr mgmt genuinely cares about the right intentions/motivations vs pure outcomes.

      Cons

      they hire/fire fast. Oppty to improve hiring algorithm to better assess cultural fit. the pace of the firm can be overwhelming. I've never seen more back to back never ending calendars late into the night. Important to monitor to avoid burnout of your best people.
