Went in with manager & employer knowing I did not have the direct skills they were looking but took them at their word regarding the learning curve. Told them directly I had just come from a bait-and-switch situation and did not want that. About a month in, just after the on-boarding process manager send me an IM saying "I hate to do this to you..." moving me to 30 year old technology that I had not seen in 20 indicating "just get it done" clearly not having any, except cursory, intention of migrating the old process to newer technology that I was told I was to work on. Additionally, the manager was a reporting and process manager, not having any experience in the development process clearly not knowing how long things will take given what he (reported) he wanted. The situation just deteriorated from there, I working many, many hours (the system being unbelievably slow) to keep things going on both ends. It did not end well, the manager berating me publicly in front of other managers and collogues (just happening for forget what was said in the interview) attempting to ambushing me. Gave notice but was promptly fired.

The paranoia of some upper level managers can be very distracting and there is definite evidence of micro-managing that comes out during team meetings and again, is unprofessional. Also, it is hard to get problem employees moved out of the way. The clients want doers, not those who complain and create a toxic environment for the rest of the team.
