Pros

They pay me regularly and I had a large amount of flexibility but even then the manager I was assigned got fired and the second one tried to micromanage me offsite.

Cons

The amount of money that management takes for income is stupid crazy huge, they pay the rest of the staff a pittance and the complaints we get from students... you feel so bad for these poor students having to use the software that (doesn't work, doesn't teach and is poorly designed) isn't helping them learn. Management is only concerned with total income mangement vs total quality. The software is so poorly designed that they have trouble keeping teachers to use the software so they lie about features to keep a 3 month lock but I feel so back for the students who have to use this awfully, truly awful product. The company is in and out of bankruptcy and they treat employees like worker drones with randomly changing priorities and little to no direction other than grow, sell add accounts... and I'm a contractor not in sales. Glad I left.

Pros

I worked remotely as a part-time contractor reviewing on-line course material, so the work was technically interesting and I had a huge amount of geographic and time flexibility.

Cons

I've worked remotely before, but at Aplia I felt very disconnected from the company. I interacted with two employees who were great to work with, but it was hard to gauge my performance and prospects for future work. The hours & pay weren't enough to sustain a person; it was on a project-by-project basis with gaps between.
