Aggressive micromanagement

Pros

-Some people are very smart and nice. -Joining comp can be competitive, depending on team.

Cons

-Massive micromanagement. Why is something suddenly urgent? Why was a huge change made? Because the ceo says. Period. -Toxic, inexperienced leadership. Some are incompetent and were brought in by the most recent, now gone cpo. -Leaders don’t last long. Revolving door which means no strategy or processes remain for long. Expect changes quarterly so you never know what to do. -Gaslighting. No matter how much experience you have at mature companies, you will begin to question if you’re crazy. -Zero accountability for many. Product management is like nothing seen before. Most don’t know the product. Not that it matters since it is all down to what the ceo wants. -Lack of alignment and communication across teams.. Teams don’t know what each other is doing or how their product areas overlap or inform each other of implications changes could have. Leads to many avoidable problems. -Not built to solve user problems. Just copying competitors. Feature factory with nothing unifying. If you disagree with ceo or vp, you are overruled. they know best. If you want to think and be heard, look elsewhere. -No HR. Big red flag. -Very low morale. People struggle to make it through the day and week. -Unreasonable timelines and huge workloads. If you complain, it’s on you for not being able to handle it. -Total disorganization. No way to track what is happening or coming. There was campaign for people to leave positive reviews. Find patterns and themes in negative or neutral reviews to see what is real.

Lots to take in here and sorry to hear your frustration. This review is a hard read and includes some pretty tough critique of our leadership and HR team (which has eight people in it). I don't think we'll agree completely here. so I'll just say thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we pay close attention to it, and even though it's hard to read I appreciate the time you took to write it. - Declan

Pros

We hire a lot of smart people, with great experience, who want to do good work.

Cons

All of the reviews about the toxicity of this company are true, I have never worked somewhere where so many people are deeply unhappy and getting through the workday is more about survival than anything else. This includes: - The CEO is an extreme micromanager. Any meeting with him will include him disregarding any prep work and instead pulling up a blank document to dictate exactly what you should be doing and how. - The company is myopically focused on processes versus the strategy of what we're trying to build and why. Our "strategy" consists of a bunch of different docs in Notion (that change multiple times a quarter without explanation) that no one can really understand. But that doesn't matter as long as you're filling out whatever piece of paperwork that you need to fill out that week-- that's what you'll be judged on. - The overall culture is one of fear-- everyone is afraid of getting berated or fired so individuals and teams spend time passing blame and throwing each other under the bus. There is very little sense of "win as one team" (even though that's one of our company values), everyone is just looking out for themselves.
