Pros

great atmosphere. projected are fast paced and are fun to work on. love being a busy body and getting the work done. flexible hours are possible; can work remotely if needed. Bagel fridays! Benefits are good. Current employees are great. CEO is very compassionate about any work / project going on within the Company. And he has his employee's backs - that is just awesome!

Cons

a bit far north on LI for my taste - but i think the LL Sound window view makes up for it.

Thanks so much for saying such nice things. I'm really glad that you enjoy working here. Yeah, it can be a bit of a trek to get up here to Northport, but we do like being on the water and, more importantly, in the middle of a nice little village.

Pros

Gain experience in a variety of business domains and technologies Develop non technical skills by working directly with customers early on in your career Stay up to date with technologies and management processes Excellent feedback and mentoring from senior technical staff Benefits are competitive with other Long Island companies Flexible work hours and tuition reimbursement Overall positive atmosphere Software quality is emphasized Growing in size

Cons

As with any small company, upward mobility is limited At time, project assignment can be somewhat unpredictable Although the location is very scenic, its in a remote north shore location

Thanks for the nice comments. We try to make this a challenging but enjoyable place to work and I'm glad to see that are getting a lot out of that. You're right that our size makes for a relatively shallow organization but we are working to grow, and our people will grow with us. We're starting to put more authority and responsibility into more hands, which is necessary as we get bigger, so you'll see those changes soon. You're right that we're a little out of the way up here in Northport, but we like our village and overall I think it's better to be up here in a nice town rather than in some industrial park closer to the expressway. We do try to be flexible about hours and such in order to make travel a little easier for those who live farther away.

Pros

Northport is a nice area and it is close to home. Good places to eat close by.

Cons

Applied Visions does not hire full time. They say it is a full time position but once they bring you on they say "This is a 3 month trial" so immediately that's a red flag. During the 3 months you will have no benefits even though you are a "full time employee" and even though you have graduated college the job is still an internship with no training. Companies do this to try to show artificial growth in the company so they can get rid of that person after 3 months and it shows that they are "hiring". Throughout the 3 months I worked there, I would come in an hour early every day and not charge the company for it. I would leave a half hour later then everyone else. I would work on things for free on the weekend by logging in remotely. I would ask my managers and co workers "Is there anything else I can be doing? How am I doing so far?" And I was told I was doing great and I felt great. I even offered to work on the Oculus Rift the company bought and was not using. I have experience with making games and programs for the Oculus Rift and I was coming up with projects I would make in my spare time for the company for free. After the 3 months they had the "Review" where the managers show that they lied the whole time and tell you that you were doing badly. The review they write is non truthful, I had multiple programmers look at this review and they all came to the same conclusion of the review being false. Long story short the company is a dieing Long Island tech company that is struggling to stay a float. If you apply here just relies that it is a temporary position and the people you will be working with are less than credible.

It's unfortunate that this poster was so disappointed at not having been offered a full-time position that he chooses to post multiple reviews making inflammatory accusations of theft and fraud. He was paid for every hour he put on his timesheet over his trial period, which included more than 20 hours of overtime paid at time-and-a-half (our current intern rate is $18/hr; overtime $27/hr). We have converted many interns to full time over the years -- some still here after 10 years or more -- and we've converted 5 over the past 12 months. We are proud of our internship program, and of the people who flourished in it.
