Pros

Work-life balance Positive culture Good pay Unlimited DTO Good benefits for parents Growing company

Cons

No 401k match. Instead, Aprio does profit sharing which they say works out to be a certain % of match. But it just isn't the same. 401k does not vest for 6 years Upper leadership sometimes make decisions that seem to benefit those higher up, but not those lower on the totem pole If you are not in an accounting role, the path to partnership is non-existent Aprio has gone back to more does in office if you are near the ATL office - so you are penalized for living within a certain mile radius.

Pros

Great benefits Great pay (for public, but industry pay for accountants is low… but that’s another debate for another day) Work life balance (for accounting. You are going to need to dedicate some time during tax season, but that’s a given. It’s not bad compared to other public accounting firms). Substantial company holidays and PTO Great paternity and maternity leave Meals provided during tax season Great people, relationships I will value for the rest of my life Fair performance metrics (none of that billable vs nonbillable profitability metrics nonsense that many firms have (you have your work and you get it done). Even as big of a company as Aprio is, I had interactions with the CEO even just as a staff accountant. Really kind guy. Client interaction early on. They don’t treat you like a child at an adult day care that has to prove yourself worthy of client interaction. Work from home days. Aprio understands that when you hire the right people and treat them well, working from home doesn’t make people “less productive.”

Cons

You won’t be as well rounded. You’re put into something specialized, so you’re limited to that specialization. Lot of responsibility early on, but this can be a good thing because it helps you grow.

Pros

Good pay and benefits. DTO and firm holidays.

Cons

Busy season requires long hours. Often understaffed for current needs of the company. Not always able to take DTO due to workload and multiple internal deadlines.

Terrible corporate

Pros

Immediate management was great, I have nothing to complain about the office or the partners. Really nice pay and lovely coworkers

Cons

Aprio has made several changes due to private equity. I had another partner tell me they were looking to clean house in our office and used profanity when speaking to me. Officially reported to HR but I doubt anything will happen. Corporate is out to cover themselves and don’t really care about employees anymore.

Growing Too Fast

Pros

Pay is decent, coworkers are generally good to work with

Cons

Merged in many smaller firms in the last couple years, I was with one. Still don't feel like part of the firm. They talk about work/life balance, putting the client first, and pay lip service to employee well-being, but profit is becoming the clear driver and profit trumps work/life if there is even a hint of conflict between the two.
