Pros

At the bottom level you have a mix of really skilled engineers and caring customer service operatives, (but also utterly disillusioned or barely competent seat warmers who are hanging on for a severance payment). At the middle levels, you mostly have well meaning but overworked managers, who are trying to shield their overworked staff from the whimsical requests of the latest "fake-it-til-you-make-it" executive. Feeling of camraderie between the actual workers, definitely a feeling of being "in it together", sadly it's "in it together" against the upper management.

Cons

Have a look at the glassdoor for "Cogeco Peer 1", the executive team weren't happy with the 2.9 rating, so they started a new Glassdoor account at the last rebrand, then asked everyone to leave nice reviews (if you want nice reviews, try being nice). Turnover has been very high at the executive level since the incumbent CEO took over. Thus a legacy of ill-conceived and hastily deployed products which no one wants. Unfortunately the high attrition rate of senior management has also resulted in promotion of mediocre or incompetent staff. Minimum statutory holiday allowance, poor benefits offering.

Could be great but they're going nowhere.

Pros

The salary was good for the area

Cons

24 Directors 57 Managers 400 staff ZERO idea what they were doing Aptum had none of their own brand products, they resell other company's products. It's quite odd take a look at the website (that they did not host themselves..) and they don't actually sell or support the majority of what is listed, so perhaps there is a massive disconnect between what the directors of the company *think* the business does and what it actually does. Approval of leadership was poor from my perspective, the CEO seemed approachable and fair but there are countless tails of the complete opposite. The company was lead mostly not by what you know but who you know.

Pros

As with a lot of reviews, there are a handful of really good employees still working at Aptum. Aptum pay well and do not put you under too much pressure.

Cons

Sales Never hit target. I think I’ve witnessed them hit their target once in 2 years. Churn numbers will cripple sales even when they do have a good month. Solution Engineering/Product These guys are not technical enough. Do not invest enough time in designing the correct solution and taking the customer on a journey. So many deals have been lost because the engineer put forward a sub standard, over priced solution because they were too lazy to do their homework. Leadership Some very questionable org changes. Good people moved on or driven out of the business. These people are then backfilled by leaders who say all the right things internally, with no substance behind them. Director level is the worst. Most are actually ignoring their day job and just trying to look good to the CEO. People work hard for years to specialise and then Aptum move them into a role that is not remotely close to their chosen field. This is clearly an effort to manage people out of the business, but in the current climate these staff members are sucking it up and sticking around. It will not end well. HR Everything within the business is driven by senior HR leadership. HR leaders have very little time for legitimate human resource concerns, as they’re only interested in culture and managing up the chain of command. Operations The majority of the good engineers have abandoned the ship because they can see the direction of travel. No major technology innovations coming out of operations or the product team as they’re looking to outsource everything. A real waste of the talent they still have onboard. Senior leadership are driving the business into the ground. They are putting on a hell of a show to cover their failings though. I would avoid joining if you are in the US or EMEA. Canada continues to get all the focus. Wait for 2 positive reviews to pop up shortly after I post this. They love a cover up.
