Toxic place to work, evil owners

Pros

You meet some good people. They make things bearable sometimes. The kids look up to you and you can really make their day.

Cons

Wow. Where to start? Prepare to be constantly berated for making mistakes even though you’re not properly trained. The family managing the business is well knowned in Canberra for their dodgy ways. They always barely skate by employment legalities with the way they operate, but they try hard to brainwash you into thinking they’re doing you a favour by hiring you. They recently massively screwed over a longtime employee because they spoke out against management. We all think it. This employee actually said it and for that, the owners went on a brutal attack against the employee and their young children. Ask around about this family before you join. Not worth your mental health if you’re not as despicable as they are. They’re also casual racists and ableists.

Pros

Working with kids, decent hourly rate

Cons

once you decide to look for a job elsewhere and you make them aware, they will bombard you constantly and pressure you to leave at the end of the term. if you don't they will tell you every week that you're finishing off the term and will change your shifts and even make you change centers so that it happens sooner. never be transparent with these people because they will kill you.

Pros

Pros is working with kids in a fun environment.

Cons

You are required to have certain equipment to even complete the training. A laptop or tablet. I didn’t have either so I bought a laptop and they didn’t care nor mention a reimbursement. Then they had me come in early to complete a training because I was not able to complete it since the log in information was not working and was not loading properly. So I was told to take it home. I worked 3 days, and realized that they wanted me to train on my own time because I was supposed to be completely finished with a training that takes 5-6 hours but was only given 3-4 hours to complete. So I had to take the training home and was not even asked how long it took to compensate my 3 hours that I worked on training at home. Then, the have the hands on training. You get in the water while you’re trained, you get out and are required to clock out soaking wet. (Which is hazardous and unsanitary) then you go back to change into your dry clothes so you can head home. But your clothes that were used for the water end up smelling like sewage. Oh and you have to buy your own bathing suits and shorts with no compensation.
