Pros
Really good people in non-management positions.
Cons
If you are a serious player in the animation industry, stay far away from Arc. This company is reckless with their finances and completely disorganized. There is no training, instruction or feedback loop for employees – I still wasn’t sure who my boss was after two months on the job(!) After some sleuthing around it became painfully apparent that nobody up or down the reporting chain has any idea what’s going on. They are ramping up like crazy because they just landed a feature film deal, but nobody seems to have a clue how to put together a feature film pipeline. In this knowledge vacuum they are allowing charlatans with outdated or insufficient technical knowledge to run the show, and they can’t recognize true talent because those supposedly in-charge have no artistic or supervisory experience. I witnessed reckless layoffs simultaneous to reckless over-hiring. In place of setting employee goals or applying any sort of professional development program, they seem to rely on secret meetings and backdoor politics to determine the fate of employees. The result is a paranoid place full of people more interested in trying to protect their jobs than developing or organizing in any meaningful way. In a first for me, I discovered even their finance department was a mess; in most companies, you can at least count on proper payment, but I had to report errors on my paycheck several times to get them fixed! At first I thought I could make a difference, but in the end I realized it was a lost cause. Probably the worst mistake of my career was attempting to get involved here. I’ve never reported negatively on Glassdoor before, I have a duty to warn my fellow animation industry professionals about this place.
