Pros

a large company, some nice people, good learning team, pizza on a Friday (pro?? point??)

Cons

Senior management doesn't know their bottom from their elbow. They definitely don't know what is going on at granular level with the plebs at the bottom of the food chain. General managers are given free rain to treat the "plebs" how they will. To talk to them in a bad way and not give a monkey if they are sick or are struggling. They definitely don't mentor or support they just put pressure and shout. The only training you get is from the LND team but don't expect anything from your line manager in terms of support. HR is only interested in the company and don't have anyone else's interests in mind. It is sad really. A lot of sad, stressed-out people working at Archant and if you are a little guy or a pleb then you need to suck it up or move on. No one listens to you. If you are looking for a nurturing environment that has a healthy work-life balance and not a lot of stress do not work at Archant. If you are happy to sacrifice your life for very little reward, then this is the place for you. If you want to work in a place where your views are valued or you want to herd or seen this is not the place for you. Be aware they lie about numbers and results - when this was brought up we were told that the numbers are wrong or times are tough ... but there is lying to customers and there are poor numbers... I'd rather have poor numbers than lie.

Pros

Interesting jobs in an industry where it's hard to find one

Cons

- Terrible communication within the company. We are given very little warning of changes happening. - Our team is often forgotten about within the company, despite being a vital factor in the main stream of revenue of Archant. - There is virtually no room for career progression. - Salaries are frozen and have had max 3 pay rises in 10 years, which is nowhere near keeping up with the inflation. I am still in the lowest end of the salary range given to me when I started 2.5 years ago. There are pay differences for the same job based on when we were hired (anyone hired in the last few years earn less). - There are no rewards for loyalty in the company (except one extra day of holiday a year every 5 years), and anyone can at any time be cast aside and given a different job role. - A lot of pressure and responsibility are put on the employees and we are expected to work late regularly, and this is not reflected in our pay (not even offered overtime pay). - Big changes in the company have happened in the last few months, and our job roles have suddenly changed drastically. Most of us are very unhappy about these changes. No one was given any choice in this matter, and barely any warning before changes were implemented.
