Start-up culture; beware of senior management

Pros

Overall, there's a lot of great people who work there. The product works and the NPS score is very good. The company has happy hours about 1x a month and free snacks (the usual "start-up perks" that keep twenty-somethings entertained).

Cons

While transparency is touted as a value, there's a definite limit on what you can say, especially if you're female. The CEO & some members of management prefer sycophants to engaged team members who are willing to challenge the status quo. The CEO is also highly involved in every department's operations, which is understandable given his role as founder. However, the company is getting too big to operate in this manner and this behavior only reinforces the idea that sycophants succeed. At the end of the day, what the CEO wants, he gets.

What this CEO genuinely wants is for every employee to have a deeply positive experience at ArchiveSocial, and regardless of the reasons, it’s clear that we didn’t get there with you. We’ll learn from it and I hope that this leads you to finding a place where you can thrive. ArchiveSocial would not exist and be where it is today without employees constantly challenging the status quo, so please don’t be discouraged. And +1 on the “lot of great people” comment.

Pros

ArchiveSocial offers a phenomenal product that solves critical business needs of government agencies. The office is nice and the people are friendly. They also have a free weekly lunch every Friday and occasionally have happy hours at local bars. It's a great place to start your sales career but you should move on once you have experience.

Cons

Salaries are much lower than industry standard. Hours are longer than industry standard. M-Th hours are 8:30 - 6:00 and 8:30 - 5:00 on Fridays. This makes a work/life balance almost impossible. The sales process is extremely rigid and if you don't follow their EXACT method you will be yelled at. Middle management is kinda clueless to be honest.

I want to thank you for pursuing the opportunity to work with us in the first place, and for sharing your honest feedback. Please know that we value your input, and while there are certainly different perspectives on these items, we have reviewed your comments in earnest. I also appreciate your positive comments regarding our product and the importance of the problem we are solving. I do want to clarify one point for the benefit of others: salaries are only a portion of sales compensation. We strive to provide a competitive base salary, a very strong OTE, and substantial rewards for over-performers.

Pros

- The employees are great - they do a very good job recruiting awesome people - Company is growing and has just recently merged with 2 others - Good supportive culture where asking questions and for help is encouraged. - Product is needed in the market

Cons

- SDR basepay is $10K below the national average with only a $40K a year base - Commission structure is small. Majority of SDR qualified meetings only pay out $50 per meeting and you do not get money on the first 2 meetings booked each month - Quota is achieved by a small percentage of reps. In the past year there has only been 1 month when over 30% of fully ramped reps have achieved quota and that was only 33%. - Low pay and low achievement means a lot of turnover - majority of SDRs have been at ArchiveSocial for 6 months or less. And that's not because of folks being promoted. People either quit or are fired, but you'll never hear the word "fired." - Even AEs are getting under 50K as a base. - There are a lot of SDRs on PIPs, a lot. People have a better % chance of ending up on a PIP than not.

Thank you for your feedback! We understand our sales positions have challenging goals to meet, however, we have many sales employees who are very successful in these roles! With that said, we always want to be competitive in the market so your feedback is helpful regarding your comments on compensation. We wish you all the best!
