Culture-
This company used to have a great culture from the ground up, and it's sad how quickly that can evaporate.
Job Security-
Over the past year, despite hearing how well the company performed in the face of the pandemic, we saw nearly 80% of the staff either leave for better opportunities or be terminated. It's baffling to see so much institutional knowledge leave with seemingly little resistance coupled with a stated need to rapidly grow the company while simultaneously eliminating middle managers and in some cases whole teams turn over. The cognitive dissonance is baffling, and leadership's stance that scaling somehow justifies such turnover is confounding for such a small company.
Company structure-
Unconventional at best. While I'm a fan of innovation and breaking from the norm, structuring teams and creating new roles without any strategic vision or logical approach is counterproductive.
Work life balance-
The unlimited PTO is not a pro when it's used to avoid paying you for vacation time. Also, should you join their team take my advice and don't overdo it because it won't get you anything more than lip service. Words won't give you that unpaid time back, opportunities, or buy you any job security in my experience.
Product-
While I think the service they provide is absolutely needed, the ability to expand upon those services and refine and scale the product just don't seem to be there. Losing your whole product team in the span of a year can't help.
Opportunity for growth-
In my experience it went from limited to non-existent with the middle management turnover and the mass exodus. It had been a while since I had observed any positional growth occur across most departments.
Leadership-
Has achieved a touch of that sycophantic cringe inducing groveling to leadership during company meetings, but true leadership (accountability, strategic vision, selfless championing of the teams) is in short supply. After awhile you run out of bodies to throw under the bus. Lot's of talk about being transparent, but very little in actuality.
